HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?
As a general rule of thumb- the sooner the better. If you're wanting a Family Session in the Fall, let's talk in July or August. For spring, Let's talk in February. If you're looking for a Maternity or Newborn Session, reach out at the beginning of your second trimester is best. If you're a Senior, keep in mind that yearbook deadlines are in early Fall, and graduation invitations go out in early May.
CAN I BOOK A MINI SESSION INSTEAD OF A FULL SESSION ANYTIME?
Mini Sessions are only available when advertised (examples: bluebonnets, Mothers Day, back to school, pumpkin, Fall, Christmas). Outside of those dates, only Full Sessions are available.
MY KIDS WON'T SIT STILL. IS THAT A PROBLEM?
Good gracious, no! If I made kids sit still for an hour, you wouldn't get the images that capture their personalities or your connections with them. When you look back on your photos, you'll want to have vivid memories of that stage of life. Furthermore, I usually let the "wild card" guide the session because it usually alleviates stress for everyone else.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? DO YOU HELP WITH STYLING?
I will absolutely help with styling, as this is an important part of making sure you get the style of images you have in mind. I like to make sure my clients have the setting etc. in mind, but my strongest recommendations is to figure out your outfit first and then build everyone else around it. I want you to feel confident and comfortable so you can just have fun and feel like your best self.
DO I GET TO CHOOSE MY OWN IMAGES?
I always say that I get to know your personality during the session, and I get to know your smile during the editing process. It is such a fun process. I'll go through all of the images from our session and pick a large selection of the best ones. I'll do some light editing on each of them and then upload them to an online proof gallery. From there, you get to choose your favorites, make comments on them, and buy additional images if you desire.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY PHOTOS BACK?
Great question, as this is important to plan for if you have a solid deadline. I will deliver your online proof galley within two weeks after our session. Then, after you pick your favorite images, I'll finalize them and deliver them to you within five business days. If you need to rush this process, I can usually accommodate that if expressed during the planning stage. If it is an extremely tight turnaround, rush fees may apply.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS BAD WEATHER?
Oh, the joy of Texas weather. One thing you can count on is that I always keep a close eye on the forecast, and we'll start talking about tentative backup dates if things are looking iffy. If you want to go ahead and reschedule in advance, we can find a different date. If you want to take your chances, I'll decide the day before or the morning of the session. In that case, if we still have to cancel, we can work to find a different date, but it may be a little trickier. The second option is to pivot to either my studio at no additional cost, or look into renting another in the area (rental fee will apply).
WHAT MAKES YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS?
I specialize in lifestyle, or storytelling, photography. Because I provide more than formal portraits, my clients receive images that feature authentic personalities and priceless connections. My favorite compliments that I receive are: 1) Even my husband had a good time, and he was dreading this! 2) I can't believe how perfectly you captured everyone's personalities! 3) Oh my goodness, I actually look good in these! (To which I always sincerely reply that you weren't giving yourself enough credit in the first place, AND I always prioritize mom's angles first!)
DO YOU DO BRANDING PHOTOS OR HEADSHOTS?
I sure do! I also help you do a significant amount of planning before the shoot to make sure we get all of the images you or your web designer needs. We'll go into our session with a full shot list to make sure nothing is left out, as well as a deep understanding of the heart of your company. Branding sessions are so fun!
